Church of L贸ios
The Church of L贸ios, or Church of S茫o Jo茫o Evangelista, has been a national monument since 1910. It belonged to the Convento dos L贸ios or Convent of S茫o Jo茫o Evangelista, built in the 15th century on the remains of a medieval castle.
The Church of L贸ios was built at the behest of the first Count of Oliven莽a, D. Rodrigo Afonso de Melo, in 1485. It was destined to be the Melo family's pantheon and in fact its intention is confirmed through the various sepulchres that are found there. Among them, in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, the splendid tomb of Francisco de Melo, a Renaissance work by Nicolau de Chanterene.
The slabs, in white marble, are of extraordinary beauty. In them you can see the figures of its founders represented in bas-relief.
